Scar Care

Part of life for the young and old are scrapes, scratches, stiches. stretch marks and scars.

Don't leave the appeance of your scar to chance!

You can improve the appearance of both old and new scars from surgery, cuts, burns, stiches, scraps and falls.
1. Use a great antioxident formula. In my practice, I recommend Phyto-Vite®. Phyto-Vite® incorporates the latest nutritional research into a powerful shield against illness and disease. Combining vitamins, chelated minerals, super antioxidant bioflavonoids and active-phytonutrients derived from energy-rich whole food concentrates, Phyto-Vite® offers one of the best ways to help control free radicals and disease while enhancing your health. (Available in 180 tablets per bottle)

2. Use a specific skin vitamin. In my office, I recommend Elasticity. Elasticity is an all-natural food supplement for men and women who want to look better and have healthier and younger-looking skin. Elasticity contains specific vitamins, herbs and minerals that have long been regarded as effective in improving the quality of skin together with muscle tone and vital circulation. (Available 60 capsules per bottle)
3. As soon as your sutures are out or you are burned or cut, use E & E Lipid Serum.

E&E Lipid Serum contains highly purified emu oil (94%) and Vitamin E (4%). E&E Lipid Serum has both anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties to promote faster healing and reduce scarring. It is safe to use on children and during pregnancy for stretch marks. Other home uses for E&E Lipid Serum include treatment for symptoms of dryness, chafing, swelling, inflammation, kitchen burns, sun burn, diaper rash, chemical peels, bug bites and paper cuts. The anti-inflammatory properties of E&E Lipid Serum offer relief of symptoms from rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, radiation burns, shingles, arthritis, rheumatism and muscle soreness.

4. If your scar is on your face or if you are treating razor burn, use E&E Lipid Facial Moisturizing Creme.
E&E Lipid Facial Moisturizing Creme is a less oily alternative to E&E Lipid Serum for use under make-up during the day or for razor burns on men. This product is also a great daily moisturizer for face or body. The skin will remain moist 3-4 times longer than traditional moisturizers and leaves skin smooth and soft for days. For scar care and wound healing, E&E Lipid Serum is recommended as it contains a higher percentage of Emu oil, but the creme can be substituted for daytime use under make-up.

5. Scars should be protected from the sun during the first year to prevent hyperpigmentation. Makena's Sunscreen SPF20 Lotion meets the Australian government's stringent testing standards for "Broad Spectrum Protection" by blocking over 90% UVA and 90% UVB radiation. Not one single product utilizing Parsol 1789 or Zinc & Titanium Dioxide can make this claim.

6. Don't forget to get the same benefit of Vitamin E and Emu Oil for your hands and body: E&E Lipid Hand & Body Lotion (4fl 0z)

7. Check with your doctor. Treatment for scars includes occlusive pressure dressing, cortisone injections, surgical removal and laser treatment.

8. Include ScarGuard in your regime.
Use ScarGuard to improve the appearance of both old and new scars from surgery, cuts, burns, stitches, scrapes and falls. Simply brush the clear liquid on twice a day. You'll notice it dries in seconds to a protective film made from the same ingredients trusted by surgeons for decades. Unlike most topical applications, the flexible film is water-resistant, nearly invisible and will not stick to clothing. ScarGuard is fortified with vitamin E, cortisone and silicone that forms a clear protective film over a scar while it heals.

Frequently Asked Questions about Scar Guard:
1) How long does scar healing take?
It can take as long as one or two years for some scars to fade to the final appearance. In the first three months most scars appear pink. This is due to an overgrowth of blood vessels within the area, which is intended to help bring a better blood supply for healing. After healing has completed, these blood vessels usually shrink and the color usually fades. After that, the remaining scar will slowly shrink if normal healing occurs.

2) How long should Scar guard be used?
ScarGuard should be used for at least 30 days and can be used for 2-6 months. Use E&E Lipid Serum during the healing phase.

3) Should I use it on fresh wounds?
ScarGuard should be used after the wound has skinned over. You may use the E&E Lipid serum during the healing phase to increase healing and reduce the resulting scar prior to using ScarGuard. If this is a surgical wound, wait until your sutures or staples have been removed before applying E&E Lipid serum. After the wound has skinned over, start using ScarGuard.

4) Can ScarGuard be used in children?
Your pediatrician should clear use in children under 6. Precautions must be taken to avoid getting it into the eyes or the mouth. Application on children should be done by an adult. E&E Lipid serum can be safely used on children and during pregnancy.

5) Will ScarGuard stay on my skin?
ScarGuard is water resistant and, therefore, will not wash off while bathing or swimming. It can be peeled off. It is not necessary to remove an existing layer before applying a new one. There is an odor to this product due to antiseptic ingredient. The smell will be gone within a short time.
